INDIVIDUAL & COUPLES COUNSELING FOR AGES 12+ BASED IN MEMPHIS, TN | LICENSED IN CT, TN, & UT

Imagine feeling safe and grounded in your body and genuinely, deeply connected to yourself and to others.

What would it be like to be able to listen to your nervous system, and to trust yourself to respond to what it says in a healthy, adaptive way?

Hey there, I’m Kirsten.

(pronounced /ˈkɪərstən/ KEERST-in)

I am a weight-inclusive, LGBTQIA2+ celebrating, sex-positive, neurodivergent therapist practicing with compassion and a sense of humor.

I call myself an embodiment therapist because no matter the specific issue that brings a client to therapy, at the core of what I do is helping people become embodied, using my training in Somatic Experiencing™. In working with me, you’ll learn how to get out of your head and truly live in your body, appreciate and respect your body as an important source of wisdom and intuition, feel secure and grounded in who you are, and live a life that aligns with your values and what you stand for—without guilt or shame.

I am here to help you attune to what you need, accept yourself unconditionally, free yourself from outside expectations, and set boundaries without guilt. Some of my main focus areas are: trauma (especially sexual, religious, relational, and developmental), anxiety, sexual shame, purity culture recovery, extreme self-criticism, attachment wounds, eating disorders, body image struggles, ADHD & ASD recognized later in life, perfectionism, overly controlling/controlled behavior, achievement burnout, and chronic people-pleasing.

em·bod·i·ment

/əmˈbädēmənt/

noun

a tangible or visible form of an idea, quality, or feeling.

the state of being present in and connected to your body, living life as a whole emotional and physical being through the experiences of the body

Our bodies remember things that our minds have forgotten. Our bodies can be carrying the burden of stories we feel we have resolved intellectually. We have to include the body in the therapeutic process so that we can fully heal.

Most of us are taught to disconnect from our bodies at a young age for various reasons. We end up learning to abandon not only our bodies, but ourselves, trusting outside sources instead of our own intuition about what we feel, think, like, and believe.

Real and true emotional healing comes when we are able to reopen the conversation with our bodies, repair that ruptured relationship, and integrate into one gracefully embodied self. You and I will use Somatic Experiencing™ in our work together in order to accomplish this.
